A look at 3D printing in Space

The idea that 3D printing is space is becoming an integral part of experiments, recreation, and innovative exploration is truly remarkable. Within such a short time of becoming widely used not only has it been used in multiple industries every day seems to be creating a new stream and way of doing things never thought possible 20 years ago.

 In my experience I am brand new to this type of technology. Therefore, one of my many options to start learning about new things is to YouTube and watch a video about it. Visually seeing how things work and ways in which our world is expanding I tend to better understand it. The idea that printing 3D objects on earth is just being understood let alone sending a machine up to space. In this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy11alCPe60 the idea that sending a machine up to space in order to provide astronauts the tools to build other items they might needs right away instead of waiting for the resupply spacecrafts to arrive. They can build tools and other objects needed to help with the mission.  I really could understand the idea that this concept would take off –no pun intended –to space because that is one of the first industries that technology tries to expand into and almost tests before being open to the public. Constantly forward thinking.

Things to make with 3D printers - These are the 50 coolest things to 3D print

Have you imagined having your own 3D printer and having the capabilities of creating/printing your own superficial things showing your friends those Things to make with 3d printer? What would be there reactions?

Here are my top five of the 50 cool things to 3D print the rest you can make your own list. It all depends on what can your 3D printer can do, but just to give you a hint here are what I think are coolest 3D printed objects.

My number 1– the star wars Millennium Falcon wouldn’t this be the greatest your 3d printed shooting up this artifact.

Number 2 – IPad or Tablet stand, driving to the mall and spending $20 every 3 months for a stand will help you save a lot.

Number 3 – aww… you’ve lost one the screw to one of your nuts. Yes I can 3D print one.

Number 4 – Imitating the battle of Normandy during WW2 and you need a supply of soldiers now I can print hundreds if these toy soldiers.

Number 5 – who does not like Legos? Being a kid once was a hard experience running out of Legos for my collection now I can 3D print Legos.

Cody Wilson : The Man Behind The 3D Printed Gun

Cody Rutledge Wilson,

Aged 27

Born Little Rock, Arkansas USA

Cody is best known for his non-profit organization called Defence Distributed. The company develops and publishes open source gun designs and accessories, also known as “wiki-weapons”. Initially they gained moderate attention through producing rifle magazines and other various publicly owned weaponry and converted them into 3D Printed Models available for free download on their webpage. The magazines amongst other various 3D Printed Things attracted a select following to their site. For the most part hey remained under the radar until one day, during a VICE interview, Cody made an announcement that would change things forever. Cody said that he was going to 3D print a fully functional 3D gun that he would fire himself and upload onto YouTube within two weeks. He did just that. And people went crazy…

Three days later, federal police came into his business and repossessed his Stratasys printer that he bought on eBay along with his 3d Printer Plastic filament. They shut down his website which offered the download for free to anyone with an Internet connection. In response, Cody represented himself in a court of law (Cody is a law student at the University of Texas), won and told the press that the battle was already over as soon as he released the file for free download. There are zero laws against owning a printer, zero laws against distributing CAD files and zero copyrights were infringed upon (he designed it himself and gave it away for free). Cody has many beliefs but to place them in the simplest of terms; man shall be free.

In 2012 Cody Wilson was listed in WIRED Magazine as one of the 15 Most Dangerous People in The World. What do you think? Is Cody a friend or foe?
